I love and relate to this. An idea to share: Matt and I (inspired by our friends Brandon and Max who shares the habit) have started naming blocks of time together as "independent study" – we're both in our house, we're technically together, but we're explicitly focused on independent pursuits for a couple hours. I have begun to use that time for art and more involved cooking projects, things I did much more of when I was single / lived alone and things I all too easily cave on if the alternative is something fun we're doing together. There's something calm and connected about knowing we're both doing things that we don't need the other to be a part of. Maybe there's something the person you're dating would be grateful to make time for while you make time for writing, and maybe that doesn't have to be time apart. Love you, love vessels.

I really enjoyed reading this and can relate with finding the balance of taking time for myself and not being consumed in a new relationship. Thanks for sharing.
