Truth and awareness are like an onion. Peeling back one layer at a time, each with it’s own translucent film, when all along we thought it was only about the crinkly skin.
Feeling this. Went through a breakup last month and find myself continuously having to allow the emotions to move through me, despite my knee-jerk reaction to try and shove them down. Cue many inconvenient crying sessions (yesterday: next to a stranger on a plane, what joy!). Thanks for putting this into words.
A plane cry! I love that. Did you pull a "put a scarf or blanket over your head" move? One of my favorites :') Thanks Katie, it feels really good to have company here. Sounds like you're doing what you need to

A friend of mine has just gone through heartbreak, and I ended up writing them this letter. Sharing it with you in the hopes that it resonates even just a little: https://open.substack.com/pub/idontknowwhoneedstohearthis/p/why-do-i-feel-like-im-only-whole?r=4qmokz&utm_medium=ios
Wow-- thank you, Chenrui. This is beautiful
Time for “If you could read my mind” by Gordon Lightfoot? Wow, that’s some powerful emotional composition catharsis. Thanks for sharing.
