Just because I write you a poem doesn't mean it will come true.

A poem is not a spell.
Poets are not prophets.

The extra letters must be earned. Gifts of the magi not fit for us in life.

If I tell you I'm a poet, please don't run.
Please don't name your album after me or
imply that I am sad.

A poem is not a spell,
nor is it prophecy.

If I write you a poem, be kind. Who knows what stirs to will it so.

First goes her crown, then her wings. She steps from the cloud onto sore feet.
Pain, hair, rose. Buried three hands deep.

If I tell you I'm a poet, listen carefully.
A poem is not a spell.
It won't come true unless I will it.
